We at Safe Delivery Safe Mother are very excited to share our upcoming social venture on building sustainable and low-cost housing in flood-affected communities. We have collaborated with the renowned Japanese architect Shigeru Ban to build resilient homes out of pre-fabricated Paper tubes, which will be done for the first time in Pakistan. All our materials are locally sourced and manufactured with one house (12/12 feet) costing PKR. 380,000 ($1380), which is half the cost of a house made from brick and cement. We are seeking funds and partnerships with national and international organisations to take this ground breaking model to flood-affected communities across Pakistan. As SDSM ends its birthing kits drive for the flood-affected women, we want to amplify the amazing support of our community who made it possible. While we focus on the pregnant women we positively impact, it is equally important to recognize the people who help us make it happen. We extended an open-invitation to people of all age groups, interests and professions to join. Together, we have made a huge impact through an initiative that started small, yet reached over 3000 women across 20 districts and all provinces of Pakistan. Stronger.together.always!

Today, we distributed over 90 birthing kits to pre

Today, we distributed over 90 birthing kits to pregnant women in the IDP camps of Jhuddo tehsil, Mirpurkhaas district in collaboration with the Jaggarta community-based organization in Sindh!

We also distributed winter jackets to the children of the area whose families are living in tents after the floods and have lost all their possessions. We are working tirelessly to support these communities to get back on their feet and to be able to continue their livelihoods.

SDSM held a flood relief drive in partnership with the Friends Welfare Trust. We distributed our winter packets containing quilts, jackets and rations for flood-affected families. After that, we held medical camps with our doctor and local LHVs to identify, counsel and distribute our birthing kits. It was a fantastic two days in the beautiful Swat valley.
